Introduction of Facial Recognition Attendance (FRS)

In line with modern governance initiatives, the Department of Technical Education and TG SBTET phased out traditional paper roll registers and standalone fingerprint biometric scanners in favor of the AI-powered Facial Recognition System (FRS).

How FRS Works in Polytechnic Colleges

  1. Enrollment: During first-year admission, the student's face biometric template is registered and mapped to their PIN in the state central database.
  2. Daily Check-in: Students scan their face using designated mobile tablets or smartphone devices operated by faculty at the college entrance between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM.
  3. Geo-Fencing & Liveness Detection: The FRS application enforces strict GPS geo-fencing (allowing scans only within campus boundaries) and anti-spoofing algorithms to prevent photographic fraud.
  4. Real-Time Cloud Sync: Approved scans are encrypted and transmitted directly to the central SBTET database servers.
